Alan Zelicoff is a physician (board certified in internal medicine 1992, clinical fellowship in rheumatology, 1983) and physicist (A.B., Princeton, 1975), who has had a varied career including clinical practice, teaching, and operations research. In the latter roles, he was Senior Scientist in the Center for National Security and Arms Control at Sandia National Laboratories from 1989 to 2003. Dr. Zelicoff's interests include risk and hazard analysis in hospital systems and office-based practice, and in technologies for improving the responsiveness of public health
offices and countering biological weapons terrorism. Dr. Zelicoff has traveled extensively in countries of the former Soviet Union and has led joint research projects in epidemiology of infectious disease, while establishing Internet access at Russian and Kazak biological laboratories. He is the author of numerous text book chapters and articles in these subjects, and is a frequent contributor to Op-Ed pages in the Washington Post and other newspapers. Dr. Zelicoff's latest book is: Microbe: Are we Ready for the Next Plague? published by AMAZOM Books.

Dr. Eva King is the Senior Scientist and leader of the immunoassay team at Indoor Biotechnologies, Inc., a global leader in allergen detection and prevention. Mold gets most of the press when there are numerous allergy and asthma triggers that lurk in homes and buildings. This week we will discuss the other allergy and asthma triggers that investigators and remediators should be thinking about when helping people solve their IAQ problems. This is an area of IAQ that is getting a lot of attention in Washington and anyone doing IAQ investigations or remediation would be smart to pay attention to what is happening on this front in the battle against poor IAQ.

IAQ Radio is delighted to have internationally known and acclaimed expert on the subject McGregor Pearce of St. Paul, Minnesota, for a 3rd appearance on our program. Mac is an environmental health consultant specializing in indoor air quality problems. He has investigated mold in homes, commercial buildings, hospitals, clinics and skyscrapers. Mold and mildew are at the root of a number of health problems and contribute to building degradation. Mac makes mycology marvelously interesting.

This week with IAQ Radio falling on the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on the USA we will be doing a show on Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene: Applications to Indoor Environmental Quality that uses examples from projects that only occurred as the result of the tragic events that unfolded that day. Radio Joe Hughes will interview Jack Springston, CIH, CSP of Sandler Occupational Medicine Associates. Our Technical Director Dr. Dietrich Weyel, ScD, CIH will be in the studio answering questions and helping out Radio Joe . We will be reviewing concepts from the IAQ Chapter of Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene, Second Edition Edited by Salvatore R. DiNardi using projects that Mr. Springston was part of following the 9-11 attacks to bring a real world perspective to this subject. Dr. Cianciarulo is an Assistant Professor at Carlow University that teaches General Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Science Teaching for Elementary Education Majors, Anatomy and Physiology
She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Cianciarulo's research interests involve bioremediation, the design of microorganisms to biodegrade environmental contaminants, and fungal contamination in building. She is also interested in gene regulation and expression in cells. Join us as we bring her back for a full hour to discuss all these issue and more on IAQ Radio.
