Ultra Violet Devices Inc. (UVDI) is one of the oldest and most respected ultraviolet disinfection companies in the world. It all began with the hard work and ingenuity of a single man. Three generations ago Luis Veloz was an engineer for Westinghouse when their R&D engineers developed and patented the first commercial ultraviolet lamps. Luis was excited by this new technology and in 1949 he purchased a Westinghouse UV lamp dealership. Early applications were difficult to develop, but Luis had a vision of how ultraviolet light might be widespread and effective. He formed Aquafine Corporation to focus on water disinfection.
In 2003, UVDI launched its ALTRU-V line of air disinfection products. We have talked a good bit with past guests about the potential benefits and drawbacks for specific airstream UV disinfection with IAQ experts for three years it is time we hear from a respected manufacturer for their perspective. Let's see what they have to say and contribute we can contribute the discussion our own unique way on IAQ Radio.

This week on IAQ Radio we welcome back Robert C. Bob Brandys, PhD, MPH, PE, CIH, CSP, CMR & Gail Brandys, MS, CSP, CMR of Occupational and Environmental Health Consulting Services. We will discuss numerous issues including their recently published book "International Indoor Air Quality Standards for Over 2,000 Chemical and Biological Substances". This is their fourth book in a popular series many IAQ professionals are familiar with, the other three include "Post-Remediation Testing and Verification for Mold and Bacteria- Risk Based Levels of Cleanliness", "Worldwide Exposure Standards for Mold and Bacteria with Assessment Guidelines for Air, Water, Dust, Ductwork, Carpet and Insulation" and "Global Occupational Exposure Limits for Over 6,000 Specific Chemicals".
This series of books has made a tremendous contribution to the practice of IAQ and disaster restoration contracting and consulting by collecting and publishing diverse and difficult to acquire historical and current information and making it available to professionals in a convenient and inexpensive format. Most of the information comes from books that too often sit in libraries unread in today's digital world. Always entertaining and informative we are looking forward to this week's wide ranging discussion with Dr. Bob and Gail Brandys on IAQ Radio.
