This week NADCA Executive Director John Shulte joins us to discuss HVAC cleaning issues and the recent Dateline NBC expose on duct cleaning scams. A recent press release from NADCA describes the segment as follows:
"The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) participated in an undercover investigation by Chris Hansen and Dateline NBC to expose companies that use bait and switch tactics to take advantage of consumers. The investigation culminated in a segment that aired January 30, 2011, featuring NADCA President Buck Sheppard as the industry expert. After witnessing one of the scam operators in action, Sheppard was taken aback. "It was amazing how unscrupulous some people can actually be," he noted."
Join us Friday at noon to LEARN MORE about HVAC cleaning and how NADCA and others are trying to shine the light on bait and switch tactics in the duct cleaning and other industries.

His work includes field research to help understand relationships between specific factors and conditions in buildings and health effects in occupants, and critical reviews of the literature that summarize what we know, how well we know it, and what we do not know, about specific environment/health relationships in buildings. His research interests include health risks associated with buildings, ventilation systems, moisture, and microbial growth; effects of indoor environments in schools on health and performance of students, and effects of indoor chemical exposures in residences on asthma and allergies.

Anthony (Tony) Worthan serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Air Quality Sciences. Worthan promises to address "green" as it relates to IAQ; a critical issue for IAQ Radio listeners including maintenance supervisors, disaster relief managers and indoor environmental professionals. These individuals are faced with "green" confusion every day: why and how should green products be selected and used? Defining Green Products provides an opportunity to educate and empower these decision-makers to make better choices that impact indoor air quality (IAQ) and its effects on human health.
With extensive experience in indoor air quality and pollutant emissions from furniture, construction materials and consumer products, Worthan's knowledge of sick building syndrome and indoor pollutant sources brings a scientific understanding of why a "green" product must be a "healthy" product. He holds a master's degree in Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health and a Management Development post-graduate degree from Harvard Business School.

This week Mr. Henry Gifford of Building Energy Science joins us to discuss building science issues, energy savings techniques and the class action lawsuit he is part of against the United Stated Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program has become the de facto building state of the art for many architects, building owners, local, state and federal buildings. Mr. Gifford contends that just should not be the case and that the program does not help save energy and therefore is fatally flawed. We will LEARN MORE this week on IAQ Radio!
