One of the most important tools in the toolbox of any IAQ, disaster restoration or building science consultant or contractor is their moisture meters. As important as they are we find that there is a great deal of confusion about how they work, what types work best under different circumstances, how values should be reported, when and how to calibrate and more. Join us with guest Paul Laurenzi, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Delmhorst Instruments Co. to LEARN MORE about IAQ instrumentation this week on IAQ Radio.

This week Attorney Harvey V. Cohen joins the Z-man to discuss the ins and outs of insurance claims issues. According to Attorney Cohen due to the state of the economy insurance claim disputes have become more common than ever. Insurance carriers must make a profit to continue to exist but the law does not allow insurance carriers to make their profit by disputing or denying the valid insurance claims of their policy holders. Likewise, insurance claim disputes between contractors and insurance carriers have been on the increase. This show is designed to help give everyone a better understanding of the issue and to review strategies that help homeowners, business owners and contractors get compensated fairly when a claim becomes necessary.
Attorney Cohen is a former state prosecutor for the 9th Judicial Circuit of Florida. He received a law degree from Stetson University College of Law. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1985 through 1989. His assignments took him from upstate New York to Panama. He now provides personal injury, criminal defense and insurance claims legal services from his Orlando, Florida office. LEARN MORE this week on IAQ Radio!

Episode Notes: This week "Radio Joe" Hughes will be coming straight back to the studio from Indoor Air 2011 (12th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate) and joining us by phone will be IAQA President Carl Grimes. We want to provide an overview of the Indoor Air 2011 conference and discuss why the conference is important to all of us. We will focus on two simple questions, first what did we learn this week and then how do we put it into practice? An important component of what we will discuss is how IAQ Radio and others can help ensure the wealth of information presented at this conference and available from previous conferences can be accessed and used to help improve IAQ practice. Maybe more importantly we need to start the discussion about how we as practitioners can help to ensure future research focuses more on topics that will help us do a better job of improving indoor air.
This was an eye opening experience for the practitioners that attended and we will pass along some of what we learned. The bottom line is that what we do is important and will only become more important over time. LEARN MORE this week on IAQ Radio!
